12/12/12 12:12:12. It’s gone for another century! Sure, I could watch the clock at 12 minutes after noon, but technically that is 12/12/12 13:12:12 or 12/12/12 12:12:12PM. It’s just not the same.
I’m sure Numerologists have been waiting for that second for a lifetime. The Mayans have done their part to create quite a stir around this date. Some people will associate some kind of mysticism to it. Most people will simply see it as an interesting natural event.
Tomorrow, when it is just another date in history, will we have learned anything from it? Let me ask it this way. Did anyone look forward to this date with a 9/11 perspective? I really hope so. If nothing else, will we be more vigilant today? Will we be more aware of what is going on around us?
I’m not one to promote conspiracy theories, or claim doom and gloom around every corner, but sometimes we need to pay more attention to life around us. It is too easy to get lulled into our comfort zone, or distracted by the business of life.
Whether this helps us to be a little more cautious about security, or simply help us enjoy what today has to offer, my time to write this blog will have been worth it.
